SLEEP FUNCTION TESTS

We offer respiratory support for Obstructive Sleep Apnoea (OSA) and Snoring assessments.  A large-scale study by Benjafield et al (2019) published in the Lancet, a highly revered peer-reviewed medical journal, estimated that there are up to 8 million people in the UK suffering from OSA. OSA can cause a range of symptoms related to excessive sleepiness such as impaired ability to drive, and therefore increasing potential for Road Traffic Collisions, right up to hypertension (high blood pressure) which, if undiagnosed and left untreated, can increase the risk of heart attack and stroke.

Healand are delighted to be able to offer the partnered services of ResMed - industry leaders in the assessment and treatment of OSA and Snoring. After some initial questions by our team of highly trained, experienced clinicians, Healand can refer your case, should you meet the criteria for assessment, to ResMed who will guide you through the assessment process with their team. If you are diagnosed with OSA or Snoring that is impacting your sleep, they will offer a range of services and products to help. Once referred and diagnosed by ResMed they will handle all of your follow-up and keep Healand updated with your treatment plan and progress. All queries once diagnosed by ResMed and treatment commenced need to be referred to ResMed.

Full Female Health Check including Hormone Panel  

This test must be carried out between 07:00 – 11:00am.

 

If your cycle is regular and approx. 28 days duration, the blood sample must be drawn between days 19-21. If you have no pattern/irregular cycles, then the sample may be taken between days 3-5 of menstruation. If it has been >12 months since your last menstrual period, the blood sample can be taken at any time as long as the date of last menstruation is provided to Healand Clinic. If you are taking Vitamin B7 supplements sometimes known as Biotin or Vitamin H – this must cease for 48 hours minimum before sample is taken as this supplement can cause skewed thyroid panel results. You must also inform Healand of any other medications you are taking including both oral and indwelling birth control. If you have any questions about when to book a blood test sample dependant on your individual circumstances, please contact Healand directly via email with details so we can ensure that your blood samples are collected at the appropriate time for your personal situation.

Home Nurse Blood Draw Fee

 

If you opt to have a nurse visit your home to draw your blood sample this is carried out via our partner service via our laboratory which incurs a fee.

Pre-test information

Hormone diagnostic tests must be taken between 07:00 – 11:00 am. You must not have eaten food or drank caffeine/sugar/carbohydrate containing drinks in the last 6 hours. Water is fine and Healand recommends you stay well hydrated in the preceding 48 hours prior to your blood test being taken. If you regularly consume pre-workout drinks, Healand advises you cease consuming these 7 days prior to having your blood test. If you have had a Prostate Assessment via Digital Rectal Examination (DRE) in the last 7 days or an active Urinary Tract Infection in the same time period, Healand advise you schedule any diagnostic testing for 7 days after the examination/last symptoms. Healand advises you refrain from exertion (heavy exercise/sexual intercourse etc) in the preceding 48 hours as this can skew results.
