PAIN MANAGEMENT
STEROID INJECTIONS
At Healand Clinic, we offer steroid injections (or cortisone injections) as a means of pain management.
If you commence treatment, you will get local anaesthetic injection followed by steroid injection into the affected joint. The whole sessions lasts between 15 and 20 minutes.
Although this is a very safe procedure, you may feel a pain in the joint post-injection, which may last one to two days.
To maintain the effects of this pain management treatment, we will book you in for a return appointment in three to six months.
WHO COULD BENEFIT FROM STEROID INJECTIONS?
Patients suffering with chronic joint pain may be recommended steroid injections following a thorough consultation. Most commonly, they are recommended to relieve pain caused by arthritis.
Steroid injections are not amenable to pains caused by joint replacement surgery.
