If your previous blood results are more than 3 months old, these will need to be repeated in clinic prior to commencing therapy and we would recommend that you select pathway A. You will need to have a full comprehensive blood test such as “TRT Comprehensive” or “TRT Comprehensive Plus” (Recommended) followed by a second confirmatory blood test (TRT Analysis) no sooner than 4 weeks after your initial blood test.

Following a thorough review of your bloodwork, Healand Clinic will give an unbiased medical opinion as to whether or not the commencement of Testosterone Replacement Therapy is in your best interests. If it is, you will be invited via email to book a 60-minute face-to-face appointment at Healand Clinic.

At your appointment, we will review your medical and social history, perform a physical examination (including a digital rectal examination for any patients aged 50 years and over that haven’t had this completed in the last 12 months). A testicular exam will also be carried out, along with measurement of your vital signs (blood pressure, heart rate, respiratory rate etc). We will have a conversation regarding testosterone deficiency, the treatment options we can offer, patient expectations of treatment outcomes and potential timeline to hormonal stability.

Once you have given consent, the Healand clinician will demonstrate safe preparation of your medications and, if applicable show you how to inject safely with Aseptic Non-Touch Technique (ANTT).

The Evolt 360 Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis (BIA) scanner is available for use after your appointment to enable us to understand your body composition baseline. This scanner has near equivalency to what is considered the gold standard of body composition scanning, which is called DEXA. The scan results will provide insight into your current physiological health status. We will then be able to use this information to track your progression and set goals for your treatment journey with Healand. You will have free access to the Evolt+ app on your smartphone which stores your scans and gives recommendations on exercise, supplementation and nutrition based on your personal goals.  A repeat scan will take place each year at your annual follow up in clinic.

You will leave the clinic with a three-month supply of insulin syringes, all medications, alcohol skin preparation swabs and sharps bins.  It is well understood by the team at Healand that the commencement of Testosterone Replacement Therapy can be stressful with a lot of information to take in. A follow up email containing instructional videos and copies of paperwork will be sent following your appointment.
